Villa Baroque has a history that dates back to 1741 when it was built. Filled with antiques and paintings, its dramatic interior offers a glimpse into 18th-century Italian culture and architecture but with all the amenities and comforts of the modern world.

Positano itself is built on the side of a hill with cliffs towering above and the Mediterranean glittering below. The houses appear to be stacked one on top of each other and display a rainbow of pastel colors: pinks, peaches, terracotta and white. Hotels draped in bougainvillea and wisteria, chic boutiques and a plethora of fabulous restaurants and cafes line the steep streets. A premier holiday destination since the mid-1950s, Positano continues to be a magnet for celebrities and well-healed visitors.

Villa Baroque is spread across four floors.  The main entrance is on the first floor, with access to the garden level through a beautifully maintained Mediterranean garden of bougainvilleas, and lemon and orange trees. There are numerous terraces with many variations on comfortable seating and sun lounges all with splendid views of the sea.  An infinity-edged swimming pool graces one of the terraces which, given the placement of the steep hill with the sea beyond, offers a dramatic optical illusion of the pool blending with the sea.

The interior is ornate with colorful tiled floors and high ceilings; many are painted with elaborate frescoes.  Antique furniture and accessories are everywhere.  The first upper level contains a large, comfortable multi-purpose room that can act as a salon, dining room or, if needed, an office. A library well stocked with books, old and new, is close by as is a dedicated dining room for more formal meals.  The spacious and well-equipped kitchen is manned by a cook to provide meals or, if you prefer, a professional chef is available on request.

The second and third upper floors of the villa contain eight-bedroom suites.  Bedrooms one through four are on the third upper floor and are air-conditioned. Each contains a double bed, minibar and en-suite bathroom.  Bedrooms five through eight are on the second upper level and have double beds, a minibar and an en-suite bath.  Each bedroom is unique with high ceilings (several with ornate frescoes), access to a terrace and luxurious tiled bathrooms.

Positano is famous for its dramatic coastal views, beautiful scenery and mountains that come right down to the sea. Historic Villa Baroque, with its hillside location, stunning sea views and central locale is perfectly poised to experience the views, culture and cuisine of the Amalfi Coast. Villa Baroque is equipped with a staff of three including a cook, butler, and housekeeper.
